Long before modern science began asking whether reality is fundamentally matter, energy, information or something deeper, Indian philosophers were asking a more fundamental question: What is reality itself? From Brahman and Ātman to Māyā, Prakṛti, consciousness and cosmic time, ancient Indian thought developed remarkably sophisticated ways of examining existence. This article explores that intellectual landscape—and where, and where not, it meaningfully intersects with modern
